Manga Traditional Drawing Equipment

Misskomik must admit, that getting Manga/Comic traditional Drawing equipment is not easy at all. Automatically the selling price is affected it becomes relatively expensive. Due to the factor, the drawing equipment is still imported 'aka' distributed from abroad.

However, if you look at the art equipment on a larger scale, Comic/Manga drawing equipment is still very affordable! And, Misskomik is also an adherent of economical drawing. In this topic Manga Traditional Drawing Equipment, beside showing you the main option, the 'more economical' alternatives are included (compared to the drawing equipment that was recommended by Misskomik's Manga teacher).

But just FYI, even expensive, in Japan the price for 1 Manga book is equal to a full set meal at Wendy's. Even so, Manga books and albums are still in high demand among the collectors.
The most important thing, if your Manga work is given a touch of quality Manga Art, it has a potential to increase the selling price too. The main asset certainly is, that drawing equipment. And of course your skill in implementing and making the most of it.
Let's get to the main topic ~

MANGA/COMIC DRAWING SUPPLY

G-PEN
Deleter
Zebra
Sample from Khaoskai
Useful for : The lining results can be set accordingly, thin to thick. Generally for medium to large image objects, such as body, clothes, hair.

MARU-PEN
Zebra
Nikko
Sample from MachikoMS
Useful for : Only for thin line results. Generally for Background (buildings, leaves, flowers, trees), Effects, Feathers, Hair, and everything that needs in lining as thin as possible.

Tips using G & Maru pen
Before dipping into ink, the eye-pen must be heated/burned for approximately 1 minute. So that the ink is easily attached to Maru-pen and doesn't dry quickly.

ROTRING ISOGRAPH

Beautiful MLandscape
Beautiful MLandscape
-size: 14pt;">Useful for : Only for the results of making fading line strokes that gives a natural impression of lighting. Specific for backgrounds; buildings, roads, cables, lining such as glass/mirrors, etc.

Alternative
The combination of G, Maru, Rotring pen, considering the usage is also not easy (required to practice often before using it for drawing in serious/professional purpose), it can be transferred using the Snowman brand Drawing-pen.

Snowman
Collect from sizes 0.05 - 0.6.
Of course, the use of this alternative also requires you to practice often first. For drawing results that are close enough to use the three tools above.

Surely this is not permitted to share, but for Misskomik itself, it would be very wasteful if you threw away the pen while the nib is still sharp & good to use.
The tips here is, don't spend too much on buying new pens if the ink runs out, refill with an ink injection or dip the pen tip in ink.

PILOT BLACK INK for drawing use
Pilot

This ink is solid & thick. However it takes time to fully dry, so be careful when using it. The paper it's used on should not be stacked too with others.
Not suitable for large dark areas, because it will over contrast.

Alternative : minus 30%. Pelikan, Drawing Ink

KURETAKE INK
Kuretake

Useful for : Inking black area or effects. Because of its thickness, black color, it is perfect-use to color a large black area. But it dries quickly, better open and immediately closes during use.

Alternative : minus 80%. Yamura Bak.

FUDE-PEN
Sample from Copic
BlackTombowEB
Kuretake
Useful for : Fude-pen is the first option besides using a drawing brush. Because the tip has been made sharp, there is no need further user-adjustments. Used for black 'large or small' areas; such as hair, parts of human objects, clothing, effects, and so on.
Especially for this Fude-pen, it is recommended that you have it. Because there is a lot of flexibility in its use. After all, if the ink runs out, you can re-fill by your self.
For the treatment of the brush tip so as not to quickly expand, when using it do not press too hard on the drawing paper.

Alternative : minus relatively cheap
Zig for Watercolor
Kuretake

Drawing Brush 01-02 (any size as it's needed) merk Corona RG595 USA, Reeves Bristle Hair, etc

COMIC WHITE INK Merk Maxon, Deleter, Comic Ink, etc
Maxon
White Ink
This is a kind of tip-ex for the comic world. Any black ink can be perfectly covered because it is non-oil. Unfortunately, it's easy to dry, so avoid long open. Tips, set aside some in a different bottle.

Alternative : minus 50%
Search for (Pentel) Paint Color Non-Oil or low oil content (not oil paint) !!!

That's all would be enough to start your Manga Project for lining part. The finnishing part, then you can use Digital. Such as for Tone & etc. The discussion of the Manga/Comic Traditional Drawing Equipment ends. For those who want to ask more/comment, please~
